Scavenging for food comes naturally to dogs. Unfortunately, some pick up anything they can lay their paws on. So don’t deny, divert. Encourage him to scavenge on your terms. Split his dinner into separate bowls with lids placed around the kitchen or garden. Praise him for tracking them down. Then, when you’re out, reward him for ‘leaving it’ with a toy or a treat.
